The All-New 2018 FORD Expedition Launched at the 15th Manila International Auto Show

Ford Philippines officially launches the all-new aluminum-alloy body Expedition at this year’s Manila International Auto Show. Leading the launch are (L-R) Ford Philippines managing director Bert Lessard, VP for Marketing and Sales Rodel Gallega.

MANILA, Philippines, 5 April 2018 – Ford Philippines today at the 15th Manila International Auto Show launched the all-new Expedition full-size SUV featuring a bold and robust new design, improved performance, and a collection of best-in-class luxury features.

Ford’s performance enhancements to the entirely new Expedition include a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and innovative changes in its transmission, fuel consumption, frame, body, and driver-assist technologies.

“The all-new Expedition delivers an even more luxurious drive, with a suite of new features and power that will provide our customers with more control, while ensuring their families are safe on the road,” said Rodel Gallega, vice president, Marketing and Sales, Ford Philippines.

Most powerful Expedition to date

Powering the Expedition is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers 375 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 470 lb-ft torque at 3,500 rpm. The all-new Expedition achieves greater fuel efficiency and vehicle tailpipe emissions during city driving through its Auto Start-Stop Technology. This programs the engine to switch off while keeping the air-conditioning, audio system, and exterior lighting functioning as the vehicle comes to a stop when in traffic.

The engine is mated with a 10-speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission that offers quicker shift times, and a wide ratio span that optimizes gear spacing for better responses. On the Rotary Gear Shift Dial, pressing “M,” engages SelectShift manual mode, enabling driver-controlled shifting in an instant.

Greater maneuverability and handling is delivered through the Driver-Selectable Terrain Management System (TMS), a new intuitive system designed to help the vehicles adapt to different road conditions and driving dynamics. This system features four pre-set modes for all models – Normal, Sport, tow/Haul, and EcoSelect. The 4WD variants feature seven driver-selectable TMS modes – Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, EcoSelect, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, and Mud/Rut.

The all-new Expedition is bolstered by a redesigned, fully boxed high strength steel frame and all-aluminum-alloy body. This has been engineered with advanced materials that help the Expedition weigh up to 300lbs less, giving customers a more fuel-efficient driving experience.

The all-new Expedition also boasts of various driver-assist technologies which includes Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with trailer coverage and cross-traffic alert, Forward Sensing System, Reverse Sensing System, and Traction Control, among others.

Bold design

The all-new Expedition strikes a new design with all-around changes resulting in a bolder, luxurious look. It comes with a raised power dome hood, which adds to the daring stance of the vehicle, followed by a body colored front bumper with fog lamps.

Behind, the Expedition features an accent trim indicating “Expedition,” followed by new LED tail lamps. It is finished off with large diameter, bright exhaust tip, which justly reflects its performance capability.

On the side are body-colored door handles with chrome inserts, chrome roof rack side rails, and 20-inch ultra-bright machined aluminum mags with tarnished dark-painted pockets, completing the Expedition’s bold design. The all-new Expedition also comes with the power-deployable running boards with polished stainless accents that give riders a lift.

Comfortable and Convenient driving

While on the road, drivers can use natural light for more scenic drives through its panoramic vista roof, which brightens the vehicle interior and gives front and second row passengers their own personal skylight.

The all-new Expedition is flexible and adaptable as ever, allowing customers to utilize space for passengers and cargo. It supports a spacious cabin with room for up to eight passengers and their gear, with second-row seats that tip and slide forward for easy third row access when needed.

With its advanced Cargo Management System, users are enabled to stow items inside their vehicles securely. The all-new Expedition also comes with a hands-free, foot-activated lift gate, which can be programmed to avoid contact with overhead obstacles such as a low garage door opening. The lift gate also has rear flip glass function.

Boosting convenience when driving the all-new Expedition is a collection of intuitive features. It includes SYNC 3 with built-in navigation. This allows ease of access to the Expedition’s entertainment system, climate controls, connected mobile devices through simple voice commands.

Furthermore, the all-new Ford Expedition introduces more options to charge devices with power outlets on every row and a wireless charging system compatible with select mobile phones. It also features a B&O Play premium audio system with 12 speakers with HD radio technology.
